Yasmina is originally from Southern California. She grew up dreaming of becoming
a dancer. Her mother had been a Professional Ballroom dancer from Chicago and
inspired Yasmina to achieve her own dreams of dancing. As a young woman Yasmina
looked for modern dance classes at the local college and found none. A friend
suggested taking Belly Dance classes at the local YWCA. She instantly fell in love
with the classes. A few months later she heard of an Egyptian teacher in her town
and began studying with Sultana Ebrahim. Sultana taught her the true essence of
Egyptian Dance especially how it is felt when dancing to the music. She, Yasmina,
has always felt this way from the time she was very little.
Yasmina knows that when she begins to dance to the ancient rhythms and hears
the music, it takes her to a wonderful place. Dancing makes her feel free, like a bird
flying for the first time or the wind blowing in your hair, and the sea breeze in your face.
From the beginning of her dance career, Yasmina has always looked for the beauty in
the dance; showing dignity and pride, with love for everyone.
Since then, she has experienced a lifetime of dancing; from her introduction to the
Middle Eastern Community performing in nightclubs, banquets, parties, theaters,
weddings, concerts and stage shows. In 1990 Yasmina was honored with being
certified in Egyptian Cabaret and Theatrical Dancing by Sultana Ebrahim Dance
Academy.
